Progress for Women, Progress for All!

In many corners around the world, women are the backbone of their families.

They bear the weight of providing food, managing resources, and ensuring the family’s wellbeing.

That’s why hearing stories of resilience of some of the empowered women serve as an inspiration for us showcasing the transformative power of investing in women.

We believe that when we invest in women, we catalyze progress not only for individuals but for entire communities and societies. At World Vision, we believe that every girl and woman deserves the chance to thrive.

Take, for example, the experiences shared by teachers Suraya, Monah, and Ruhaina from Cotabato City, Mindanao, Philippines whose journeys exemplify the impact of investing in women.

Teacher Suraya emphasizes how providing women with access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities leads to poverty reduction and societal advancement. The scholarship she received during college allowed her to finish studies and get out of poverty.

Teacher Monah’s story highlights the resilience ingrained in women, because for her, women are resourceful, strong-willed, and whatever challenges come their way, they can overcome. She emphasizes that poverty is never a hindrance to success. Now, she’s supporting her five niece and nephews’ education and one of them is now a licensed teacher!

Meanwhile, Teacher Ruhaina’s journey exemplifies that when you invest in women, you invest in success. Her resilience and dedication propelled her and her sibling’s success.

This International Women’s Day (IWD), the call to action is clear: let’s continue investing in women. By doing so, we not only uplift individuals but also lay the foundation for a more equitable and prosperous world for all.

And as we celebrate the achievements of women worldwide, let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting their journey towards empowerment and progress.

After all, when we invest in women, we accelerate progress for everyone.
