Why this matters

  • 9% of Filipino girls marry before turning 18, the 10th highest rate in the world. Child marriage in the Philippines is most prevalent in Soccsksargen, Eastern Visayas, and MIMAROPA.

 

  • 1 in 10 girls aged 15–19 in the Philippines is already a mother. This is often a sign of limited choices, not personal failure.

 

  • 77.81% of Filipinos believe men have more right to a job or make better business leaders, compared to women. This belief is formed long before a girl ever enters a classroom or a workplace.
