How to Celebrate Christmas at Home

We only have few days left before Christmas, many may wonder how to celebrate the holidays given the current situation. While the quarantine protocols have been in place to prevent the spread of the virus, COVID-19 cases continue to rise but on a declining rate.

This still holds us from doing the usual at this time of the year. But, this should not stop us to observe Christmas more meaningfully.

We’ve listed a few things we can do to celebrate this special day:

1. We can still connect with our friends and loved-ones.

We may not be allowed to organize or attend big family gatherings, but we are blessed to live in a time when technology allows us to connect with people who are thousands of miles away from us. It’s still possible to have memorable Christmas party program! You can think of a theme, assign a host, and even do a virtual song and dance presentation. Years from now, photos will remind us how we celebrated the Holidays this year — physically apart, but one in heart.

2. We can still send gifts

One of the things we look forward during Christmas is the traditional exchanging of gifts. With more online shops and delivery services available, sending gifts is just a click away! Go and make a list of the people you like to surprise this Christmas. Shop for gifts online and send them directly to their address. Nothing beats receiving a surprise gift from someone especially during this time.

3. We can still attend online mass or worship service

Just because we are not allowed to go outside, it doesn’t mean that we cannot worship God and hear His word. Nothing can stop God from ministering to us especially during this time that we need to draw closer to Him. Online masses and services will surely be held and the good thing about it is that we can worship Him inside the comforts of our own homes. But make sure you don’t fall asleep while the Message is being delivered.

4. We can still cook our favorite Noche Buena dishes!

We may not expect guests and visitors this year, but we can still prepare our Christmas favorites and goodies for our family. Celebrations aren’t complete without the bounty of food served on the dinner table. You might want to share what you have prepared online and join World Vision’s #WVNocheBuenaCookOff2020 and get the chance to win and take home exciting prizes!

5. We can still reach out to the needy.

We at World Vision are keeping our yearly tradition of giving joy and hope to children in the communities under our care. And we invite you to support this year’s Noche Buena campaign so that children and their families will be able to celebrate Christmas like no other.

For every P 1,000 you give to our Noche Buena Campaign, Two families will get to celebrate a merrier Christmas. Your gift will be a reminder of God’s love to these families especially to children.

This is INDEED the Season of Sharing. And this is a great opportunity to reach out to the least of us, the most vulnerable especially the children. While there are a handful of options on what to share, the best thing we can give to a needy child is the gift that can make a difference to his or her life.

When you sponsor a child, you’ll be doing much more than helping to meet his or her basic basic needs — you will equip the child to be better prepared for life. By bringing about lasting change in your sponsored child’s community, you’ll also be improving the lives of many other vulnerable children.

Is there any gift more meaningful than that? 🙂
