World Vision and UnionBank work together to foster a culture of reading among children
UnionBank of the Philippines (UnionBank) partnered with international humanitarian organization World Vision to “Go Beyond” their work and spend time with kindergarten students from Malabon.
The volunteer activity was filled with learning and laughter as both the students and UnionBank volunteers participated in fun games and excercises and educational storytelling sessions.
“Reading is the key to learning,” Avon Morales, UnionBank’s Vice President for Human Resources said, explaining why they chose to work with World Vision to foster a culture of reading among children.
World Vision’s “Culture of Reading” program aims to improve the reading and comprehension skills of young students, and to develop a habit of and love for reading among children as early as 3 years old. The program also aims to provide adequate and interesting reading materials to students.
To cap the day off, the ates and kuyas from UnionBank distributed learner’s kits to the attendees.
