Climate Change Meet held in Cotabato City

World Vision along with local government agencies and seven partner barangays (villages) in Cotabato City gather to discuss waste management in the city.

World Vision through its Climate Change Adaptation Project, which raises awareness about solid waste management and promotes reducing the risk of climate change,   presented various interventions and accomplishments in assisting the city in managing its waste segregation.

Each of the 7 barangays now has improved Material Recovery Facilities (MRF), conducted clean-up drives, and continuous collection of reusable materials.

“Thank you, World Vision, for partnering with us. To my fellow Cotabateños, and barangay local officials, let us keep our place tidy. Our city is our identity, so let us keep it all the time,” said Atty. Aelan B. Arumpac, Cotabato City Administrator.

Atty. Arumpac assures that the city government is providing solutions on issues concerning waste management.

“We will not be able to do all the accomplishments if not for the strong partnership we had with the communities and local government agencies,” Emmanuel Sudario, World Vision Project Officer, said.

World Vision has been partnering with 7 partner barangays in Cotabato City in the implementation of solid waste management, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and the BARMM Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE).

The barangays also presented their waste management activities via a gallery walk. There was also an open forum and discussion related to waste management.

“This Project and even this gathering are not only about making our community clean but also ensuring that our children have a better place to live someday,” Sudario added.
