Statement on the recent school-based bullying incident

As a child-focused agency, World Vision is against any form of bullying in schools or elsewhere. We share with the call of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) to appropriately address and handle the recent bullying incident involving at least two minors who should be protected and guided. Bullying in school is a form of violence against children that should not be tolerated and must be proactively prevented and addressed by the school administrations as mandated by Republic Act 10627 or the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013.

“… with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love” — Eph. 4: 1

We also trust that the Department of Education (DEPED) and the school involved should take thorough and objective investigation to resolve and prevent the incident from happening again. Each of us, whether parents or students, teachers or guardians, adults or children —we all have the responsibility to respect the rights and dignity of every individual. Together, we can end all forms of violence against children.

We also humbly call for the concerned public to be agents of peace, refrain from hasty judgment or hatred especially in the social media where the children have become subject to cyberbullying. Instead, in the spirit of Christmas, let us uphold the children and families affected even in our hopes and prayers. Peace and goodwill to all.

“…with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love” —Eph. 4: 1
