EMPOWER A GIRL’S DREAM
Each girl deserves to be in school, to reach her full potential and be equipped to lift herself and her community out of poverty. It is in this belief that World Vision Philippines launched the movement to sponsor 1,000 girls before International Day of the Girl on October 11.
Girls and young women face harsh realities that no child should have to face.
Violence against Girls: Girl-children are more at-risk to sexual violence.
Child Pregnancy: Child pregnancy rates in the Philippines are rising with 500 Filipino teenagers becoming mothers every day.
Child Trafficking: Girls are trafficked from rural communities to urban centers and tourist destinations for the purpose of domestic work and commercial sexual exploitation.
Child Labor: 37% of children engaged in hazardous labor are girls. Hazardous labor – dangerous work that puts children to increased risk of psychological, verbal, or physical/sexual abuse; work that burdens the child’s capacity and threatens the child’s health and life.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE; ONE BOLD MOVE CAN CHANGE A GIRL’S LIFE.
