1000 girls-header

Each girl deserves to be in school, to reach her full potential and be equipped to lift herself and her community out of poverty. It is in this belief that World Vision Philippines launched the movement to sponsor 1,000 girls before International Day of the Girl on October 11.

Girls and young women face harsh realities that no child should have to face.

Violence against Girls: Girl-children are more at-risk to sexual violence.

Child Pregnancy: Child pregnancy rates in the Philippines are rising with 500 Filipino teenagers becoming mothers every day.

Child Trafficking: Girls are trafficked from rural communities to urban centers and tourist destinations for the purpose of domestic work and commercial sexual exploitation.

Child Labor: 37% of children engaged in hazardous labor are girls. Hazardous labor – dangerous work that puts children to increased risk of psychological, verbal, or physical/sexual abuse; work that burdens the child’s capacity and threatens the child’s health and life.

  • World Vision is working on building resilient families and communities to create an enabling environment for girls to reach their full potential and have a better future. With your sponsorship, you are helping to ensure that:

Why sponsor a child through World Vision?

World Vision is a Christian, child-focused organization which uses community-based programs as an approach. Sponsoring a child through World Vision means helping find long-term solutions to promote sustainability rather than sending out short-term aids. We carefully look at all the things that prevent children from surviving and thriving in their communities. Then we work with each sponsorship community to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better future for the children.

What to expect as a Sponsor?

You get to see your sponsored child and their community reach their full potential! You will be helping not just a child, but also their family and community.

Once you become a child sponsor, we will help you create a one-on-one relationship with them. Within the first seven days of your sponsorship, you’ll receive a welcome kit from us. It will provide you with information about your sponsored child and background about his/her community.

You will also be receiving an annual progress report to keep you up to date with your child’s progress.  It has information about their community, including photos, so you can find out more about how your child lives – giving you a real glimpse into their world.

You can also send a letter to your child, introducing you and your family to them. You can write to him or her as often as you like. You can also visit their community. And be an influencer to let other people experience the joy in helping.
