Cebu, Philippines – It was a festive celebration in the municipality of Tabogon when new classroom buildings were officially given to an elementary school during the turn over ceremony which was attended by representatives of the corporate donor, Willis Towers Watson, World Vision staff, authorities from the local government unit, and the school heads.

On February 13 this year, the students can already enjoy three spacious classrooms with proper lighting and well-ventilated space after studying inside old learning spaces.

“The students used to stay in old cramped classrooms. The dim lighting also affected their learning,” shares one of the teachers of the elementary school.

The school project was an initiative of the school authorities after they discovered that they could no longer cater to the students’ growing population with just their old classrooms. They developed a proposal to World Vision Development Foundation Inc., and the organization tapped its corporate partner, Willis Towers Watson, to support the project.

“Willis Towers Watson is a blessing to the school. They supported the construction of the new classrooms, which will address the needs of the students,” says Jun Godornes, Resource Development Director of World Vision.

Pre-school and Grades 1 and 3 students will use the new classrooms. The old vacant classrooms will then be used as clinics and computer rooms.

Violy, one of the students in the school, expresses her gratitude to Willis Towers Watson and World Vision for their generosity. “I am happy that I have a new classroom. Thank you to the donors of our school,” shares the 6-year-old student.
