Strengthening Community Response Against OSEC and CLT

The Child Protection Compact (CPC) was launched in October 2017 by the US and Philippine Government as a bilateral agreement to collaboratively create and implement a plan to combat to online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC) and child labor trafficking (CLT) in the Philippines.
The US State Department named International Justice Mission (IJM) and its consortium, World Vision, Partnering Foundation of the Philippines and NORFIL Foundation, implementers for the partnership’s prosecution, foster care, and prevention goals.
World Vision, in particular, provided technical support to local governments and civil society to strengthen community-based mechanisms for identifying and protecting child trafficking victims and preventing these crimes from occurring. This case study, published by IJM, focuses on the CPC Partnership’s community component. It emphasizes the community’s critical role in combatting online sexual exploitation of children and child labor trafficking. Challenges and lessons learned in strengthening existing community-based mechanisms were also highlighted. Most importantly, replicable best practices and key learnings were forwarded to ensure sustaining such efforts
