Philippines Earthquake Response – Cebu and Davao Oriental (Situational Report No. 4)

Overview

A month after the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu and the twin quakes (magnitude 7.4 and 6.8) in Davao Oriental, World Vision continues to assist children and families affected by the disasters. The earthquakes caused widespread destruction in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, damaging thousands of homes, schools, and public facilities.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), over 2.2 million people (583,000 families) were affected across 680 barangays. More than 159,000 houses were damaged in Cebu alone, while 33,000 homes sustained damage in Davao Region. Ongoing aftershocks continue to cause fear and anxiety among residents.
