North Cebu Earthquake Emergency Response Situational Report

On September 30, 2025, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck near Bogo City, Cebu, causing widespread damage in northern Cebu. The shallow depth (5 km) led to strong ground shaking felt across the Visayas. Northern Cebu municipalities experienced up to intensity VII (Destructive) shaking.

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck near Bogo City, Cebu, causing widespread damage in northern Cebu.

A total of 3,685 aftershocks has been monitored by PHIVOLCS, with 349 ranging in magnitude from 1.4 to 4.8. These persistent tremors have heightened fear and anxiety among affected populations, prompting many to camp outdoors for safety and complicating recovery efforts.
The provincial government declared a state of calamity, enabling access to emergency funds to support rescue, relief, and recovery operations.

WORLD VISION INTERVENTIONS
World Vision is answering the urgent call for help from children and communities impacted by this disaster. We have started our initial coordination, assessment, and life-saving assistance to families affected in Cebu.

Our immediate focus is on providing 2,000 families critical supplies like water, sanitation and hygiene
(WASH), non-food items, shelter, and protection/psychosocial support to children. We are actively seeking support from individuals, donors, and partners to join us in this vital effort to address these life-saving needs.
