World Vision Philippines celebrates 65th Anniversary with “The Day My Life Changed” book

To celebrate its 65th anniversary in the Philippines, World Vision launches “The day my life changed,” a book with inspiring stories of children who got their opportunity to create a better life for themselves and their communities through World Vision’s supporters.

World Vision Philippines is the second oldest office of World Vision, the world’s leading child aid organization that helps our most vulnerable children on the ground in over 100 countries while fighting climate change, poverty and for child rights at a global level. Over the course of the 65 years World Vision has helped over 39 million children and their families. Today World Vision Philippines helps over 1.5 million children every year.

Rommel Fuerte, World Vision’s National Director in the Philippines, explains: “Every one of us will know someone who has been helped through our international and Filipino supporters. Amazing stories of transformation in which our most vulnerable children got their opportunity to shine.”

And shine they do. Take Bishop Alconga, sponsor child number 7, or well-known media personality, Commodore Armand Balilo, the spokesperson of our National Coast Guard.

Commodore Balilo sold rice cakes as a child and says about World Vision: “Years back, I was the one who needed to be saved and rescued. I grew up in a community where poverty and misery were the norm. I sold rice cakes to put food on the table, and there were times when I would attend Sunday school shirtless. One day, a World Vision project staff approached me. That day changed my life. My wonderful sponsors gave me the opportunity to create a better life for myself and my family.”
