6.5-magnitude earthquake strikes anew in Cotabato, Philippines

The island of Mindanao was again rocked by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake at around 9AM, today. The epicenter was located in the municipality of Tulunan, the same epicenter location which was hit by a 6.6-magnitude earthquake 2 days ago.

Intensity 7 (destructive) was recorded in the said epicenter, in Kidapawan City, and in Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

The 6.6-earthquake that happened on October 29 affected 16,400 persons, in which 4,400 are staying in temporary shelters. 5 casualties were recorded while 394 were injured. 94 schools were also reportedly damaged. (OCHA snapshot report as of Oct 30,2019)

In Kidapawan City, an assisted area of World Vision, 1,292 families are staying outside their homes because of the Oct 29 earthquake.

World Vision field staff in Mindanao are in the area to assess the situation.
