Erica is the middle child of Roderick and Jessalyn. They live in Baseco, Manila where her father earns a living as a tricycle driver. She loves skipping rope and helping her mother clean their home. Her favorite chore was sweeping the floor. Erica was full of life until last year when she was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and had to receive chemotherapy in the middle of a pandemic.
Despite scarce resources and the threat of a deadly virus, Erica braved through her treatment in the hopes of returning to school and restoring her health. World Vision has initially given monetary support to the family while helping them process financial assistance from PCSO and DSWD. The organization continues to be there for Erica by constantly monitoring the child, and providing emotional and spiritual support to her and the rest of her family.
Erica celebrated her 12th birthday just last April 23 by finishing her last cycle of chemotherapy a week prior. We praise God for the courage and faith Erica has shown at such a young age and it is our hope to support her in her recovery.
We understand this is a difficult time for you but Erica and her family will be very much grateful for any help you can extend to them. We hope to raise at least Php100,000 for her consultation, monitoring, medicines, and other necessities while also assisting the family in looking for other institutions that can give them financial aid.
Three years can be a long time for a child with so much vigor but it is our hope that she receives all the support she can get to overcome leukemia.
