World Vision featured on Procter & Gamble’s “Activate: The Global Citizen Movement” series on NatGeo

Procter & Gamble (P&G) and World Vision continue to raise awareness on proper solid waste management in the fifth episode of “Activate: The Global Citizen Movement” series aired on National Geographic last October 3, 2019.

P&G and Nat Geo’s “Activate: The Global Citizen Movement” is a six-episode documentary series co-produced by Global Citizen and RadicalMedia. Each episode aims to spread word about extreme poverty, inequality, and sustainability by mobilizing different stakeholders from around the world to take action and adopt significant solutions.

On its fifth episode, the series puts the spotlight on the Philippines and its ongoing fight against plastic pollution. P&G, in partnership with World Vision, promotes a multi-sectoral social mobilization approach to address the solid waste crisis in the country. Through the “Pag-asa sa Basura” project, participants are encouraged to manage plastic waste properly through an incentivized process that would benefit both their families and communities.

Launched in 2017 by Procter & Gamble Philippines, World Vision, The Plastic Bank, and the local government of BASECO, the “Pag-asa sa Basura” initiative is now geared towards reaching more communities in the Philippines by expanding its scope to Malabon. World Vision aims to continue promoting solid waste management in its area programmes as part of its promise to keep children in healthy and safe communities.
