National Director Rommel V. Fuerte appointed as board member of the Philippine gov’t’s Council for the Welfare Children

National Director of World Vision in the Philippines Rommel V. Fuerte was appointed by the Philippine President, representing the private sector and officially took oath as member of the board of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“I am humbled to be appointed by the President as member of the board of CWC,” Fuerte said. “I pray that God will continue to enable me to represent the voice of children and uphold every child’s right to survival, development, participation and protection.”

World Vision works closely with CWC and DSWD to ensure and promote the strict observance of laws, policies, programs and measures that will safeguard the rights of every Filipino child. In the past, World Vision has joined both government agencies in coming up with the monitoring and evaluation plan for the Philippine Plan of Action to End Violence against Children, in crafting rules and regulations for local laws aimed to the protection of children in armed conflict, and in organizing the celebration of national children’s month.

“World Vision’s community programs aim to amplify the voices of children in the Philippines as we promote and protect their rights. We will continue to work together with the CWC and DSWD to uphold the rights of every Filipino child,” said Fuerte who commits to represent like-minded individuals and groups from the private sector concerned for children.

CWC is the leading interagency mandated by the Philippine government to evaluate, implement, and enforce policies, programs and measures for children. Meanwhile the DSWD is the Philippine government agency responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of social welfare and development in the country.
