Hello kids! I’m Sairah and I’m sharing with you my story on how I dreamt of becoming a banker when I was just 8 years old. I hope this story will inspire you to dream and use the dream as your true north in achieving it someday.

In 1980s my family used to live in the scout area now known as Tomas Morato. Since our house was just a walk away from restaurants, banks and other commercial establishment, my mother who handled our family finances used to bring me to the bank to deposit or withdrew cash for our household needs. Whenever my mother brings me to the bank, I would sit in one of the sofa and watched bank employees processed transactions of clients. I’m in awe with how they projected professionalism with their fully made-up faces, corporate uniforms and friendly smiles. I told my very young self that someday I will be a banker, wear make up and corporate attire and smile to clients giving them the best experience they can have transacting with the bank. Since then I have set in my mind that someday I would become a banker, I studied and worked hard on subjects related to banking especially math as I thought I needed to be good in math in order to work in a bank.

Later on during 4th year of high school, my classmates were busy with choosing which universities and what courses to take as we embarked on our college life. Since I already knew that I want to be a banker, it was an easy decision for me since I knew what course to take in college related to banking.

Fast forward, a few days after our college graduation I was already working at one of the top banks in the Philippines fulfilling my dream.

Just like what Serena Williams said in one of her interview “Everyone’s dream can come true if you just stick to it and work hard.”
