AMTraC equips young Filipinos in Tacloban for careers in automotive servicing
Tacloban City, Philippines | Eighteen young Filipinos graduate from the Auto Mechanic Training Centre (AMTraC) during the Batch 25 Commencement Exercises, Welcome and Recognition Ceremony on July 2, 2026 at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Office VIII in Tacloban City.
The ceremony celebrates the scholars’ successful completion of the two-year Automotive Servicing Program, which equips young people from low-income families with industry-standard technical skills, nationally recognized qualifications, and essential life skills for meaningful employment.
AMTraC is a longstanding tripartite partnership among Isuzu Motors Limited, World Vision Development Foundation, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Together, the partners work to prepare skilled, job-ready automotive technicians who can build sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.
Distinguished delegates from Isuzu Japan Dealers, Isuzu Motors Limited, and partner institutions are expected to join the event, reflecting their continuing support for the program and its scholars.
“AMTraC is more than a technical training program. It is a pathway to opportunity for young people who are determined to build a better future,” said Dr. Herbert Q. Carpio, National Director of World Vision Development Foundation. “Through this partnership, scholars gain not only the skills needed for the automotive industry, but also the confidence, discipline, values, and sense of purpose needed to thrive in life.”
The program combines comprehensive technical training with values formation, leadership development, workplace communication, rights awareness, financial literacy, health and nutrition, and life planning. Throughout the two-year program, scholars receive support for tuition, meals, accommodation, training materials, health coverage, and assessments.
As of November 2025, AMTraC had produced 455 graduates, with a documented 95% employment rate. Of its graduates, 68% are employed locally, 24% are working overseas, and 3% have pursued self-employment. With Batch 25’s graduation, the program is expected to reach a total of 506 graduates since it began.
AMTraC graduates have also demonstrated excellence beyond the classroom. A graduate received the Medallion of Excellence and Best of Nation Award at the WorldSkills Competition in Kazan, Russia, while other trainees have performed strongly in national and regional competitions.
The Batch 25 Commencement Exercises will highlight how collaboration among the private sector, government, and humanitarian organizations can create lasting opportunities for Filipino youth.
“Every scholar who graduates represents a family given renewed hope and a community strengthened by opportunity,” Dr. Carpio added. “We are grateful to Isuzu and TESDA for walking with us in helping young people move from potential to purpose.”
