About World Vision

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, their families and communities worldwide to reach their full potential by addressing the causes of poverty and injustice. It is present in nearly 100 countries and is one of the world’s largest child sponsorship agencies.

In the Philippines, World Vision is working in partnership with the communities in the poorest provinces through an Area Development Program (ADP). It employs an integrated sustainable community development approach where communities take ownership of the programs and projects. Funds raised through sponsorships and grants help provide for the developmental needs of the entire community so that it is better equipped in enhancing the welfare of its children. Currently, there are 47 ADPs engaging 33 provinces and 43 cities spread over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The organization is assisting more than 120,000 children in the ADPs.

The banner program is Child Sponsorship that works by linking a poor child to an individual or a company who/that is willing to give a monthly donation of PhP600.00 per child. All sponsorship contributions and donations are pooled together to give children, their families and communities the following benefits:

  • Access to education, good health and nutrition
  • Values formation
  • Child rights protection
  • Enhanced children’s participation
  • Skills and leadership training, and
  • Sustainable community development projects

World Vision works to create self-sustaining solutions for the entire community:

  • Clean water keeps children and adults healthy
  • Nutritious food helps kids grow and thrive
  • Health care saves lives
  • Education lifts entire families out of poverty
  • Individual loan helps create jobs and secure futures

Ongoing funding sources such as child sponsorship and corporate/ institutional grants ensure World Vision stays in a community for a long period (at least 12-18 years), helping local leaders take ownership of the development projects.
